Our Story

In the beginning

New Hope Baptist Church (NHBC) began modestly in the Bayridge community building, then quickly moved into League City Elementary as the congregation grew  .

From 1989 to 1993, NHBC met in temporary locations before acquiring land and opening its current facility in July 1993, marking a major milestone .

Over the years, the church has been led by several pastors—including Norman Fansler, Charley Day, Jeff Jones, Dick Sumner, and Ben Hollan—each contributing to its spiritual and community growth .

Where we are at

Over the years, NHBC had adopted a small country church culture, whihc was the culture of the community wihen NHBC built their building. However, the eastside of League City expereinced tremedous growth and grew out to NHBC.

In May of 2022, NHBC called Ben Hollan to be the Lead Pastor of the church. Since that time, Pastor Ben has led the church to transition to be more of a suburban community church that focuses on reaching out to the community around it.

Pastor Ben's goal in leading NHBC through this transition is that the churhc would be faithful in loving, serving, and reaching the community that God has brought to it.

moving forward

At NHBC, we are deeply thankful for God’s faithfulness throughout our history—and we’re filled with anticipation for what He has in store for our future.

Pastor Ben’s vision for NHBC is to become a healthy, Christ-centered church that lives out the Great Commission with passion and purpose. This means developing healthy leadership, structures, members, and ministries—each working together to bring glory to God and serve others well.

We believe that a healthy church isn’t just about what happens inside the walls of a building. It’s about being a faithful presence in our city and beyond—loving our neighbors, reaching our community with the gospel, and sending the hope of Jesus to the ends of the earth.

We’re excited about the journey ahead and invite you to be part of what God is doing here at NHBC—for His glory and the good of all people.
