Loving Leadership

Nehemiah chapter 5 confronts us with a sobering reality: even while doing God's work, we can become blind to the suffering of our own brothers and sisters. As the Jews rebuilt Jerusalem's walls, a crisis erupted—not from external enemies, but from within their own community. Wealthy members were exploiting the poor, charging interest, seizing property, and even forcing families to sell their children into slavery just to survive. This passage challenges us to examine our hearts: Are we so focused on our church's mission that we miss the pain sitting right next to us in the pews?
